At the Ocotober 2012 iPad Mini launch, Apple CEO Tim Cook shared recent numbers on Apple's "post-PC" sales. Here's just the data from his presentation:
- Apple sold 5 million iPhone5's in the first weekend.
- After just 1 month, there are 200 million devices running iOS 6.
- Apple sold over 100 million iPads to date. That's more iPads sold in the June quarter than any PC manufacturer sold in their entire PC line.
- The iPad accounts for 91% of tablet web traffic.
- Apple customers have sent over 300 billion messages using iMessage. There are 28,000 iMessages sent per second.
- Apple customers have placed 125m documents in the cloud in just the last year. Apple's GameCenter has over 160m game players. People have shared over 70m photos with friends and family using Apple's shared photo streams.
- Apple's App Store has over 700k apps and 275k iPad apps. Customers have downloaded 35 billion apps from the store. Apple has paid out $6.5 billion to developers.
- There are over 1.5 million books in the iBooks store. 400 million books have been downloaded since the launch of the store.
- There are now 2500 classrooms in the US with iBooks textbooks.
- The Mac has been outselling the PC market for six years straight. It is now the #1 desktop and #1 notebook in the United States.
