Tony Sambino's Pizza
Machine
Completed: November 2001
The object of the Tony Sambino's Pizza Machine Shockwave game is to
collect the proper ingredients for a pizza order, while simultaneously
avoiding the cans of tomato sauce rolling by. Users are penalized points
for gathering toppings not in the order and when they check the order
to recall which toppings they should be collecting. The title character
has two degrees of motion on the x and y axis, and hence two forms of
action: run and jump. Different levels increase the amount of toppings
to collect, the number of cooks, and the overall speed of the game.
Character Creation:
 |
 |
| 1. The character
begins as a pencil sketch selected from several possibilities. The
sketch is scanned in at very high contrast, and imported into Macromedia
Flash. |
2. The oultines
of the charcter are traced as vector art and optimized for minimum
file size. Since the charcter was going to be repeated in a variety
of poses, file size was an issue. |
 |
3. Several small
motion files are animated within Macromedia Flash from the vector
drawings. These are then saved as Flash files with a transparent
background and brought into Macromedia Director where the real coding
of the game occurs. |
